Paradise Now

Dutch-Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad tells a very intruiging story of two friends recruited for a suicide bombing attack in Tel Aviv. Two people, no future to live for, no hope at all. Complete silence in the cinema after the ending credits faded away.

Paradise Now was awarded several prizes from various film festivals all over the world.

Les poupées russes

Les poupées russes (there’s an official site too) is the sequel to L’Auberge Espagnole, in which some students in Spain were depicted in a humorous (sometimes even hilarious) way.

Les poupées russes is about a reunion (a couple of years later). Some of the former students have changed, others clearly haven’t. Once again, several hilarious scenes. A good laugh, although this genre is not really my favourite.

Standardizing AJAX XMLHttpRequest

From the W3C weekly news letter:

The Web API Working Group has released the First Public Working Draft of “The XMLHttpRequest Object.” The draft documents features of the XMLHttpRequest object, the core component of AJAX. The interface allows scripts to perform HTTP client functions, such as submitting form data or loading data from a remote Web site. Read about the Rich Web Clients Activity.

GNOME Goals rock!

Yesterday Michiel and I made a plan: fix 3 GNOME modules each day in order to complete a GNOME Goal that makes all modules use the file po/LINGUAS instead of embedding all language codes into configure.ac or configure.in directly.
